The Matusalem brand was established in 1872. Originally, production took place in Cuba, then it was completely moved to the Dominican Republic in the 1920s. Matusalem Rum is produced using a unique method called Solera. The ins and outs of the method are passed down from generation to generation. In this method, maturation of the distillates and their mixing is based on rarely used techniques applied in the manufacture of sherry, brandy and cognac.

Colour: deep orange-copper opalescent amber.
Aroma: nutty with sweet notes, the sensation of fresh honey, almonds with hints of magnolia. The background includes caramel, toffee and mango with nuances of exotic wood and cedar, a note of white chocolate and almond.
Taste: refined, elegant and creamy, in the background: liquorice, roasted nuts/almonds, very complex with a discernable side taste of fresh nuts, it becomes very complex until the final impression, resembling sherry in the finish.
Serving proposal: solo 60ml Matusalem Gran Reserva Solera 23 Y.O. rum. Serve in a cognac glass, can be optionally decorated with a lime peel.
